New England Institute of Technology
The New England Institute of Technology has been providing professional education to thousands of students since 1940. One of the leaders in technical education in the country, instructors at the institute are fully accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, Inc. With an approach that favors in the field, hands-on learning balanced with analytical thinking taught by professionals who have been on the front line of collision repair, the New England Institute of Technology provides an Associate of Science Degree in Automotive Collision Repair Technology.
This program is oriented towards graduating students who are capable of filling entry-level technician positions in dealerships, car repair facilities, and fleet service centers. Students will benefit from preparation for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) exams and certification through specialized training designed around the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation standards. Students will be able to learn how to use the tools of the collision repair trade, how to create and maintain a safe work environment, and how to properly analyze and inspect auto body damage. Participants will also be shown how to strip, mask, prime, and paint a vehicle or body panel, as well as how to remove and reinstall automotive components in the course of effectuating body work. Cutting, dent repair, welding, and working with structural components on an automobile are also emphasized by the program. With an eye towards the future, the Automotive Collision Repair Technology program will also prepare students to use waterborne automotive paints which will become mandatory in body shops across the country through a series of new laws beginning in 2012.
The New England Institute of Technology additionally offers graduates of its Collision Repair program the opportunity to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in either Automotive Service Management or Business Management Technology. This allows students to improve their chances in the workplace.
